at times when future prospects for stationary trade are uncertain e-commerce brand for workwear, ENGELBERT STRAUSS, decided to give craftsmen physical shopping experiences. after designing workwear stores for Hockenheim, Munich-Bergkirchen and Biebergemünd, plajer & franz studio was commissioned to design a flagship store in Oberhausen.
all stores present the world of workwear from a completely new perspective. the retail design concept is simple and unconventional but deeply honest. various trade and craft references are integrated into the design concept in a playful way – and by doing so, offer an emotional shopping experience with a clear expertise statement.

A Space

Located in berlin mitte, for the time being  ‘A space’ was a temporary showroom for NATULIS GROUP AG. after the transformation, the former movie theatre offered a platform to show and sell a range of apartments being built at this location. the design of the showroom is marked by a mix of rough, edgy and refined, elegant elements. this symbiosis turned the space into an eye-catcher while offering great opportunities for counseling and sales conversations.

the BMW office is more than a building, we call it a ‘multifunctional machine’ as it fulfills one of the most complex design processes for the world’s leading car manufacturer. it is here that creative atmosphere meets work spirit and engineering abilities. plajer & franz studio’s intelligent spatial architecture allows designers and modellers to work on different levels yet remain in direct visual contact, leading to better communication and exchange of ideas.

John Park apartment building

this upscale residential apartment building in berlin mitte is inspired by asian culture – where the ‘home’ is integrated into nature and the architecture embedded within a green oasis. in any one of the 89 spacious, loft-like apartments, the sense of ‘coming home’ is something to celebrate as the rush of the big city is left behind. floor to ceiling windows offer great views across the historic invaliden park next door and the roof-terraces on the upper level allow for a 360°view over the city. plajer & franz studio were responsible for the  architecture and construction of the building as well as the design of the loft-style apartments, creating a unique living ambience in the heart of berlin.

Dongli Lake for Vanke

a mix of residential units, lofts, retail and urban spaces designed for china’s biggest real-estate investor VANKE. covering an area of 25,000 square metres in the dongli lake district in tianjin, it is distinctive thanks to an intelligent distribution of space. there are green, quiet  zones provided, as well as opportunities for social interaction, fostering the sense of community mixed with individuality common to asian tradition.

Portugal Lagoon Apartments

beautiful apartments surrounded by a lagoon, sand dunes and pines, most of them with a direct view of the sea… nature is an integral part of the architecture of these residential villas. it is reflected in so many ways, from the selection of authentic materials to the open terrace spaces. the maisonette character of the apartments lends a spacious feeling whilst offering a direct window into the surrounding landscape to create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

when germany’s biggest workwear producer decided to extend its online business and move into retail spaces, plajer & franz studio was commissioned to develop both exterior and interior brand architecture with the intention of a roll-out. the exterior architecture forms a perfect shell for the intelligent retail design concept inside, whilst also generating a striking appearance, standing out in its industrial surroundings. modern, simple and reduced shapes as well as the use of honest materials communicate the brand’s message: expertise and honesty.

PUMA Osaka

an interior and exterior architecture that speaks with a homogenous voice, uniting the concepts for three different brand lines. as a result, over a very short period of time, the PUMA brand store has become a landmark on the retail horizon of osaka. the design unifies an intelligent yet simple retail concept with the brand’s spirit, integrating local references and offering PUMA’s clients a joyful shopping experience. more than a shopping space, this brand store is also a social and cultural meeting point with a special rooftop area designated for performances and sport events. it was awarded with the grand prize for best store design at the ARE awards in 2013 and the EuroShop retail award for best store 2013.

this highly innovative concept for a beauty & sport resort blends the needs of family life with individual interests, offering recreation, retreat and activity. a 5* plus hotel tower and a clinic as well as various oval buildings for sport activities are scattered along the marina shoreline. the oval buildings are clad with a state-of-the-art intelligent membrane skin.
